Jefferson and momma are doing fantastic. Summer is healing faster then ever for two big reasons, 1) we are surrounded with incredible support from our family and friends and 2) Summer's labor was an astonishing 3 1/2 hours! Now, this is a huge deal if you know that our first, Damian was a 40 plus hour labor! We know this was a tender mercy of the Lord and send our deep thanks for all of you who had a prayer in your heart for us.

Where we got the names Jefferson York:

The names we chose come from two of our most favorite American statesmen, Thomas Jefferson and Alvin York. We have always admired the great education of Jefferson and how he utilized his studies to help establish the freedom that we enjoy. I could go on, and on, but I am sure you are all familiar with Thomas Jefferson, however, I would guess that few of you have every heard of Alvin York, I know I hadn't until Summer introduced me to one of her favorite movies "Sergeant York." The movie tells the story of how he become famous as a WWI hero when he single handedly charged a German nest of machine guns, taking out 28 soldiers and capturing 132 of them. What is even more amazing was his level of humility. He received many military honors and medals including the highest - the Congressional Medal of Honor, yet he humbly gave the honor to God when he said, "A higher power than man power guided and watched over me and told me what to do." Directly after his duty he received many offers to capitalize on his fame, which would have made him rich overnight, but he turned them down and instead returned to his farm in Tennessee. He lead an honorable life, married his sweetheart, raised 7 children and was known for his generosity and kind temperament. If you have a minute we highly recommend the movie, "Sergeant York." The movie actually does a good job of keeping the story accurate and Gary Cooper is outstanding. Cooper even got an Academy award for best actor.

I am sure you realized it that yes, we gave him two surnames for his first and middle names and his actual surname is generally a first name. Sorry Jefferson - welcome to having your name flipped on everything you sign up for big guy! (I speak from experience on this one)
